The Cauldron
These were the days when the better suburban home included a well-appointed fallout shelter (you may mock the mentality of the '60's, but gently; those days appear to be on the verge of returning). The Doomsday clock was ticking, and the threat of nuclear holocaust was taken very seriously. When the Cuban blockade brought the world to the brink of destruction, many, including our president, feared the worst.
In recognition of the gravity of the situation, Karl and I published our special Doomsday Issue. As a bonus, Karl permitted one of my early comic strips to be included - for no particular reason - making this Karl's first published editorial work. This issue was actually well-received by our advisor Ben Sparks; it wasn't until our Walpurgis Nacht issue that we provoked outrage. Sadly, that issue is also lost to posterity.
